Takashi Kawashima lives and works in San Francisco. His work explores the re-contextualizing of commonplace items to create new awareness of the mundane. His work has been shown internationally at the festivals including Ars Electronica (Austria), Japan Media Arts Festival, Siggraph (U.S.A.), Sónar (Barcelona), South by Southwest, (U.S.A.) and the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. His work is part of the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Takashi received his BA in Media Design with a Dean’s Award from Keio University in Japan and MFA in Design | Media Arts from UCLA in the U.S. He is the recipient of a Japanese Government overseas study program grant for artists.
